Finding Your Way To a relationship with God Through Faith in Jesus Christ

One Father, One Holy Spirit, One Son, One Truth, One Way, One Life, One Savior, One God Jesus Christ!

The Trinity of Man

The first time it is recorded that God spoke to another being is in the 26th verse of the 1st chapter of the Bible.

It is recorded in Gen 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: again in the very next verse the scripture comments on the fact that man is made in the image of God.

Gen 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Now, according to the Bible we see that man was created in the image of God. The next logical question would be then, what does God look like? Since all mankind doesn't look the same, and men and women certainly don't look the same, what is the scripture referring to?

As always we can depend on scripture to reveal or clarify scripture. First we see that God is speaking to someone that must be similar to Him when He says, “Let US make man”. Notice He includes others.

God doesn't say "I will make man in our image". He includes others in the creation process. Others that evidenced by His own words must be able to create.     Remember He said "let Us make". This simple phrase excludes the angels, as they are themselves created beings and are never referred to as being creators. On the other hand if we look at the first Chapter of the gospel of John, we may see the answer to this question clearly revealed.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was. Vs-2  The same was in the beginning with God. Vs-3  All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

Then in John 1:14  we read..,“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, when we speak of the Trinity of man we are referring to mankind in his whole being. Spirit, soul and body. (1Thessolonians 5:23)

The aspect of God that corresponds to the body or flesh of mankind is Jesus Christ. In fact we are told in

Romans 12:5, and 1 Corinthians chapter 12 that the church is the body of Christ on earth.

Corporately the visible church, those that have been redeemed, delivered and set free of the power of sin by the blood of Christ are mandated to fulfill the will of God on earth.

Individually  we are to regard these bodies as earth suits that house our spirits and our souls. Our bodies are in direct contact with our environment and "sense" what is going on around us.

Our bodies are used to actually maneuver and make changes to our surroundings as we deem necessary. Our bodies include the sensory organs that provide the signals to our minds that are processed into what we refer to as feeling, seeing, hearing, tasting and smelling.

Since we are so dependent on our bodies it is our responsibility to 1.) maintain them properly; and 2.) to keep our bodies under submission to our spirit. Here-in lies the problem, our bodies may be used as a terrific tool when led by the Spirit of God, or a terrible weapon when under the influence of the enemy.

In the 2nd chapter of Ephesians we are declared to have been created for Gods' purposes.

Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The only means to gaining complete command over our flesh, is to be born again. Until we ask Christ to forgive us and free us from the hold sin has on us through His shed blood, we remain slaves of sin (Rom.6:16) and fulfill the desires of the flesh. (Galatians  5: 19 -21.)

Until the spirit of man is quickened by the Holy Spirit, the only information his mind receives is from his body. It is only by being born again, becoming a new creation in Christ, led by the Spirit of God, that our bodies, our flesh- man may become subject to, instead of the masters of, our souls.
