Answered Prayer and So Much More

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. Psalm 91:15

The Ninety-first Psalm is a treasure chest of precious promises from God's Word! Verse fifteen begins, "He will call upon me and I will answer him." Do you ever wonder if your prayers are getting through to God?

Like every promise in this Psalm it is conditional. It says, "He shall call." It refers to the person that is described in verse fourteen, the person who has set His love upon Jehovah God, the one who constantly abides in the protective shelter of His presence. When we abide in Him by meditating on His Word, in constant communication with God and His sweet praises on our lips, answers to prayers come on every breeze.

God assures us, "I will be with Him in trouble.” Notice that it does not say, "I will keep him out of trouble." God did not keep Daniel out of the lions den or the three Hebrew children out of the fiery furnace. The miraculous part of the story was that He was right there with them to shut the lion’s mouth and quench the violence of the fire so that their clothes didn't even smell like smoke.

"I will deliver Him and honor Him." Just as God delivered Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego He will deliver you. These men were promoted to important stature in the eyes of men because of their commitment to God. They went from being hated to being celebrated with just one move of God’s mighty hand. Humble yourself in his sight and He will lift you up. Because of your relationship with your Heavenly Father you will have favor in the sight if God and men.
